Manaslu Tsum Valley Trekking in a Brief
Follow the Path of Manaslu Tsum Valley Trek in 20 Days, a venture to the most isolated areas of the Nepalese Himalayas. The trek combines the untouched trekking trails of Manaslu Circuit and Tsum Valley, which go closer to the Tibetan Border. Though you can do the Manaslu Circuit Trekand Tsum Valley Trek separately, combining these remote places covers the exploration of the whole Manaslu Region at once.
The Manaslu Circuit Tsum Valley Trek revolves around the 8th highest peak in the world, Mt. Manaslu (8163m). Moreover, most of the trekking trail passes through the Manaslu Conservation Area, which allows one to discover a diverse range of endangered flora and fauna. Discover the hidden beauty of Tsum Valley, the high-altitude lakes of Manaslu, centuries-old monasteries, glaciers, icefalls, and soaring vistas.
The journey is moderately challenging, reaching an altitude of 5106 meters at Larkya La Pass. The 20-day Manaslu Tsum Valley Trek Itinerary involves 6-7 hours of walking, covering 10-14 km every day. Moreover, as the Manaslu Trek route rises in altitude, traversing the isolated and remote trail becomes challenging.
This Manaslu Tsum Valley Trek is an ideal adventure for those who want to be on different horizons and landscapes. Though the pathway demands a lot of physical and mental effort, this trek delivers some of the incredible sights of mountains and inimitable cultural experiences.
Manaslu Circuit Trek Vs Tsum Valley Trek
Manaslu Circuit and Tsum Valley Trekking are a combined journey that provides Himalayas, landscapes, and Tibetan cultural experiences. However, are the Manaslu Circuit Trek and Tsum Valley Trek kind of similar? The answer is both “Yes” and “No”. It depends on the itinerary, the starting point of the trek, and so on. Though, both the trekking places of Nepal lie inside the Manaslu Conservation Area and Restricted Region of Nepal.
Manaslu Circuit Trek dominates the beauty of the Himalayas, glaciers, landscapes, and culture. Whereas, Tsum Valley Trek represents more about Tsumb Community and their Tibetan-influenced lifestyle. Likewise, the Tsum Valley Trek Route is short of high passes like Larkya La Pass which is a part of the Manaslu Circuit. Nevertheless, the kind of trail is almost similar. Also, the starting point of the Manaslu Circuit Trek and Tsum Valley Trek is from Macchekhola. Though the Manaslu Round Trek ends at Annapurna Circuit Trek Route but Tsum Valley trek retrace the same trail and ends at Macchekhola.
Daring Larkya La Pass and Manaslu Base Camp Hike
Larkey La Pass is one of the sights to watch out for during the Manaslu Tsum Valley Trek. Crossing this pass is the last section of Manaslu round Trek which requires top effort and determination from the trekkers. Besides that, enjoy the 360-degree views of soaring vistas from the top of the pass. Also, the glacier moraines and rugged landscapes are equally fascinating.
Before crossing the daring Larkya La Pass, another trip to Manaslu Base Camp is best out of this trek. The Manaslu Base Camp Hike is generally for acclimatization before marching to the pass. It allows the trekkers to witness the closest views of Mount Manaslu. Those who can’t cross the Larkya La Pass can do this Manaslu Base Camp Hike and return through the same route.
Visit the Popular Rachen Gompa and Mu Gompa
While Hiking around Tsum Valley, you will detour centuries-old monasteries i.e. Rachen Gompa and Mu Gompa. According to the legends, Rachen Gompa was founded by Guru Rimpoche in 1905 AD. This Gompa is especially for nuns. Similarly, another popular Gompa in the Tsum Valley Region is Mu Gompa. In this Gompa, both monks and nuns settle doing their rituals. Exploring these Gompas gives you glimpses of Tibetan Included Buddhism and its culture.
Understand the route of Manaslu and Tsum Valley.
The route of the Manaslu Tsum Valley Trekking Itinerary begins with an admirable drive from Kathmandu to Sotikhola/Macchekhola by Public Bus. Then, the next day, the excursion moves ahead to Macchekhola. From here, the Manaslu Altitude rises as the trails pass through different settlements like Jagat, Chumling, and Chekampar.
Likewise, the 20-day Manaslu Tsum Valley Trekking continues to isolated areas to the Nile and Mu Gompa at 3710 meters. A day trip to Mu Gompa allows for Hiking around Tsum Valley and discovering the lifestyle of the Tsumb community. Likewise, visit the Mu Gompa and nearby attractions during the stay at Tsum Valley.
After strolling around Tsum Valley, the journey follows the Manaslu Circuit Trek Route. Retracing the same route via Chekampar and Chumling, the trail marches ahead to Namrung, Lho, and Samagaun. At Samagaun, there will be an extra day for acclimatization, where you will Hike to Manaslu Base Camp.
